Dr. Mayank Mathur, a specialist cancer and transplant surgeon at K.D. Medical College-Hospital and Research Center, has saved the life of a man who had been refused surgery by some doctors in Mathura. Dr. Mathur gave Bhagwan Das (54), son of Ramniwas, a resident of Jagner, Agra, a resident born with only one kidney, a new lease on life by removing a cancerous tumor from his kidney. Bhagwan Das’s urinary incontinence has been completely cured, and his health is steadily improving.

According to reports, Bhagwan Das had been suffering from urinary incontinence for several days. A few days ago, he also noticed blood in his urine. Bhagwan Das was seen at several hospitals in Mathura and underwent tests, but after reviewing the test reports, the doctors refused to treat him and advised him to be flown to Delhi. On April 24th, Bhagwan Das’s elder brother, Santosh Kumar, brought him to K.D. Hospital after he hadn’t been able to urinate for 24 hours and was experiencing unbearable pain in his lower abdomen. After reviewing his test results, the doctors recommended consulting with specialist cancer and transplant surgeon Dr. Mayank Mathur.

Dr. Mathur first performed a CT scan on the patient. The CT scan revealed that Bhagwan Das was living with only one kidney and that the single kidney had a large tumor. Considering the patient’s critical condition, Dr. Mathur advised the family to undergo surgery. After the family’s consent, Dr. Mayank Mathur and his team performed a partial nephrectomy. The surgery removed approximately one-quarter of the cancer-infected part of the kidney, preserving the remaining kidney. Dr. Mayank Mathur was assisted in this surgery by Dr. Praveen Agarwal, Dr. Pradeep Seth, Dr. Dalveer, Dr. Bali, Dr. Vinayaka, Dr. Kamal, anesthesiologist Dr. Manju Saxena, Dr. Pushpendra, OT technicians Ravi Saini and Shivam Saini.

Dr. Mathur explained that such cases are rare in the medical field. This case was aggravated by urinary problems and cancer. Dr. Mathur says that Bhagwan Das will now live a normal life as the patient is recovering very quickly after the surgery. Bhagwan Das says, “When I learned about my illness, I was apprehensive, but Dr. Mayank Mathur gave me hope that everything would be fine. Now I am amazed at how quickly I am recovering.” Bhagwan Das says that he is grateful to the doctors, nurses, and K.D. Hospital management for the new life he has received.
