The Department of Community Medicine at K.D. Medical College-Hospital and Research Center, under the guidance of IAPSM and ICMR, organized a “One Health Awareness Rally” in Ranhera village on Tuesday. On this occasion, Nodal Officer (One Health), Dr. Nikhil Thorat, raised awareness about zoonotic diseases and environmental protection. A large number of MBBS students, along with senior and junior residents, participated in the One Health Rally.

The One Health Awareness Rally raised awareness among the people of Ranhera through slogans and slogans related to health protection, environmental balance, and an integrated health approach. Dr. Nikhil Thorat, the Nodal Officer, explained that the purpose of this awareness campaign is to promote the global concept of “One Health,” which connects the health of humans, animals, and the environment. Dr. Thorat, the Nodal Officer, informed the villagers about K.D. She also provided information about the facilities provided by the Rural Health and Training Center of the Medical College-Hospital and Research Center. She said that with a little common sense, we can save humans, animals, and the environment.

In her message, Dr. Amanjot Kaur Chauhan, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, stated that today, there is a need for collaboration between medical, veterinary, and environmental fields to combat diseases like rabies, COVID-19, and avian influenza. She added that the health of humans, animals, and the environment around us is interconnected. If one thing becomes ill, it inevitably impacts others. Dr. Amanjot Kaur Chauhan stated that the One Health Awareness Rally aims to improve global health security, improve human and animal health, protect biodiversity, and emphasize the need for clean air, water, and soil.

Principal and Dean Dr. R.K. Ashoka stated in her message that the concept of One Health is the foundation of the health security system of the future. The health of humans, animals, and the environment is inextricably linked. He stated that this is a collaborative effort that will protect everyone’s health. Dr. R.K. Ashoka stated that such activities will make students responsible for public health and develop leadership in them.

Manoj Agarwal, Chairman of K.D. Medical College-Hospital and Research Center, stated that everyone must come together to combat such diseases. Mr. Manoj Agarwal stated that medical, veterinary, and environmental experts need to work together. This will help prevent diseases like rabies and better combat epidemics like COVID-19 and avian influenza. The One Health Rally included Dr. Nikhil Thorat, Dr. Subhra Dubey, Dr. Shweta Singh, and a large number of medical students.
