Expert neurosurgeons Dr. Deepak Chaudhary and Dr. Rahul M. Dhole of K.D. Medical College-Hospital and Research Center have successfully operated on the lower spinal cord of Renu (19), daughter of Shobharam, a resident of Hodal, who was unable to walk, and have brought a smile back to her face. According to information, Renu, a resident of Hodal (Haryana), who was unable to walk, was brought to K.D. Hospital on August 20th. Her family informed expert neurosurgeon Dr. Deepak Chaudhary that she had been unwell for three to four months and had been unable to walk. She had received extensive treatment from local doctors, but to no avail. Dr. Deepak Chaudhary performed an MRI of the patient’s spine, which revealed spinal TB and compression of the nerves in her legs due to the L1 bone being damaged.

Dr. Deepak Chaudhary advised Renu’s family to undergo surgery. Following the family’s consent, Dr. Deepak Chaudhary and Dr. Rahul M. Dhole performed surgery on the patient’s lower spine on August 30th. The damaged portion of the L1 bone was removed. Following the surgery, the patient was started on TB medication. The neurosurgeons were assisted by anesthesiologists Dr. Shivangi Agarwal, Dr. Venkata Teja Gudati, Dr. Sadashiv Bali, Dr. Ratna Shri, Dr. Prabhat Yadav, and technicians Devendra, Sandeep, and Rajveer. The patient was back on her feet the very next day.

Neurosurgeon Dr. Deepak Chaudhary explained that if TB medications are taken early in this disease, the patient can be spared the need for surgery and organ damage. Dr. Deepak Chaudhary stated that this operation not only gave the patient a new lease on life but also enabled her to perform other tasks like normal people.

Dr. Deepak Chaudhary says that when Renu was brought here, she was unable to stand, so he resolved to get her back to standing. It is heartening that she now travels from Hodal to K.D. Hospital without any assistance.

The parents are also delighted to see their daughter back on her feet. The family says that after the operation, Renu is able to sit and stand comfortably, walking without assistance, and even climbing stairs. Now her life is normal.
