Medical College-Hospital and Research Center<\/strong> organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program to educate future surgeons on the latest information on retrograde intrarenal surgery. Director of Urology, Andrology, and Transplantation, Dr. Shafiq Ahmed, provided surgeons with the latest and most in-depth information on retrograde intrarenal surgery and emphasized that it is the ethical responsibility of every medical professional to acquire the latest medical information.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The <strong>Continuing Medical Education program<\/strong> was inaugurated by Director of Urology, Andrology, and Transplantation, Dr. Shafiq Ahmed, Dr. Ashish Kumar, Dr. Aamir Mushtaq, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr. A.K. Jain, Head of Surgery, Dr. Praveen Agarwal, and Head of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Dr. V.P. Pandey, urologist Dr. Aqeel Latif, Dr. Younis Mushtaq, Head of the Department of Anesthesia Dr. Jayesh Sikarwar, etc., lit a lamp in front of Goddess Saraswati. Guest introductions were given by Dr. Aqeel Latif and Dr. Younis Mushtaq, urologists at K.D. Hospital.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Dr. Shafiq Ahmed, a specialist urologist at BLK Max Super Speciality Hospital, told surgeons that retrograde intrarenal surgery is an innovative medical solution in the world of urology. He said that it is a minimally invasive procedure for treating kidney stones. It makes it possible to treat kidney stones and some other intrarenal problems without incision. He said that the primary purpose of RIRS is to remove kidney stones or treat small kidney tumors. He explained that RIRS is particularly recommended in situations where other surgical methods, such as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) or percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), are not effective or feasible.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Dr. Ashish Kumar explained that retrograde intrarenal surgery is also suitable for patients with bleeding disorders, obesity, or weakened kidneys. RIRS is preferred in these cases because it carries fewer risks than open or percutaneous surgery. He added that if a patient has undergone other treatments for kidney stones, such as laser lithotripsy or ESWL, and these treatments have failed, RIRS may be recommended as a follow-up option. Retrograde intrarenal surgery involves no incisions, significantly reducing recovery time and postoperative complications.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Expert urologist Dr. Aamir Mushtaq also shared his views on retrograde intrarenal surgery. They explained procedures like laser lithotripsy, stone removal, stent placement, stone fragmentation, and more. They explained that the surgery typically lasts approximately 1 to 2 hours, depending on the size and location of the stone or the complexity of the problem being treated. They noted that RIRS is a minimally invasive procedure, so patients can usually go home the same day or after a short hospital stay.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Urologists<\/strong> Dr. Aqeel Latif and Dr. Younis Mushtaq explained that RIRS is an excellent option for people with large or complex kidney stones that are not suitable for simpler procedures like ESWL, or for those with <strong>kidney stones<\/strong> that are difficult to access. They added that this surgery can be a permanent solution for individuals who experience recurring kidney stones. The doctors explained that after RIRS surgery, patients are usually kept under observation for a period of time before being discharged. In the days following the procedure, patients should drink plenty of water to flush out any remaining stone fragments and avoid strenuous activities for about a week.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Doctors reported that patients may experience mild discomfort or burning when urinating for a few days after surgery, but these symptoms usually resolve on their own. Dr. Supriya, Dr. Shivangi Agarwal, and Dr. Divya praised the Continuing Medical Education program, stating that the information they received from experts would serve as guidance in the future. At the conclusion of the CME, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. A.K. Jain, Dr. V.P. Pandey, Dr. Jayesh Sikarwar, and others presented mementos to the guests, expressing their gratitude.
